    Content of job information

     

    (1) Classes:

    Oral Communication, Basic Seminar, Research Seminar (depending on the applicant’s field of specialization), Graduation Thesis, English (in liberal arts), and Others (American Studies or European Studies, if possible). Avg. 6 classes a week during a semester. Classes are 90 minutes long.

    (2) Other duties:

    You have to perform routine administrative duties (e.g. student guidance and international program jobs) in accordance with our college regulations.

     

    Employment status

     

    Full-time (Tenured)

    Mandatory retirement age of 65

     

    Compensation

     

    The successful applicant will be employed as a civil servant of Kagoshima Prefecture. The salary and benefits are determined in accordance with Kagoshima Prefecture’s laws and regulations.

     

    Qualifications

     

    All of the following requirements must be fulfilled:

    (1) The applicant must be a native or near-native English speaker of any nationality.

    (2) The applicant must specialize in one of the following fields (English Linguistics or English Language Teaching or Literature and Culture in English), and have a master’s degree or higher degree.

    (3) The applicant must have experience in teaching English, preferably at institutions of higher education.

    (4) The applicant must have proficiency in Japanese sufficient for conducting routine administrative duties.

    (5) The applicant must make commitment to supporting students’ academic and personal development.

    (6) The applicant must make an active commitment to taking part in administrative work and international program jobs.

     

    Application Materials

     

    (1) A curriculum vitae with a photograph (You can make this document in any format, in A4-size paper.) Note: You must make the document in Japanese. As regards overseas Institutions, please use their English official names on the document.

    (2) A list of publications, presentations, and other relevant accomplishments with a 150-word English abstract or a 200-character Japanese abstract for each (You must make this document in using the designated form in our college.) form (MS-Word), form (PDF)

    (3) Full-text copies of a maximum of three publications

    (4) In the case of person engaged in educational activity or business, he/she is asked to write the content in one A4-size paper.

    (5) Statement concerning your application for this position (This should include your approach to teaching Oral Communication at the College level. You can make this statement in English (approximately 600 words, accompanied by Japanese abstract/ summary)

     

    Selection process

     

    (1) First Stage: Screening of application materials

    (2) Second Stage: Short-listed candidates will be invited for an interview and a model lesson/ trial lesson (oral communication).

    (3) Details of the interview procedure and schedule will be provided to short-listed candidates.

    (4) Interviews will take place in both Japanese and English.

    (5) Please note that short-listed candidates must come for the interview at their own expense: They will NOT be reimbursed for travel expenses.

    We will notify you of the results of the selection by post as soon as the selection process is completed.
